Asthma Relief Tips
Asthma involves the reduction of air flow into the lungs. The bronchial tubes leasing into the lungs can become restricted or inflamed, giving the person a feeling of suffocating. Tips:
- Avoid dusty, smoky, dirty air environments when possible – especially for children
- Drink Breath Easy tea brand, found in health stores
- Formulate a syrup from comfrey root, mullein, garlic, fennel seed, and lobelia in vegetable glycerin and apple cider vinegar
- Take 4 T. Aloe Vera gel before meals and at bedtime (4 times daily) for 2 weeks
To Relieve Asthma Attacks
- Steep 4 oz. powdered lobelia in 1 quart rum, and let stand for 1 week – strain. Take ˝ tsp. of solution during an attack or use 3 drops 3 times daily as a preventative measure.
- Many asthma attacks are incited by food allergies. Eliminate all highly refined foods such as sugar, white flour, homogenized whole milk, coffee, black tea, soda pop and chocolate. To combat your symptoms take 3 capsules 3 times daily of equal parts of marshmallow, mullein, comfrey, lobelia and chickweed.
- For deep bronchial coughs, chew on a peeled ginseng root.
- Ten drops 3 times daily of elderberry tincture helps coughs.
- Mix the following herbal ingredients: 3 parts coughwart, 3 parts sage, 3 parts plantain, 1 part mullein. Add 1 cup boiling water, cool and strain. Take 1 tsp. of fluid every hour.
- Mullein leaf (Aaron’s rod) tea may be helpful
- To relieve the suffocating feeling, press a very cold, wet rag against the forehead.
Food allergies are often the cause of asthma. Food additives, such as metabisulfite or monosodium glutamate can cause asthma. Vitamin B-6 supplements (50 – 100 mg/day) have shown to reduce the incidence and severity of childhood asthma attacks.
Vitamin C supplements (1 – 2 grams/day) can reduce asthma attacks by lowering the sensitivity of the asthmatic person. Also, magnesium supplements (400 – 800 mg/day) have shown to reduce the severity of an asthma attack.
